Navigating pregnancy or parenting alongside chronic pain and illness?
You’re in the right place…

If you’re pregnant or parenting while living with hypermobility, HSD, hEDS or chronic pain…
You don’t have to do it alone
Welcome to Applesea
I support people navigating pregnancy, birth, and parenting alongside the extra challenges of chronic pain, fatigue, and hypermobility.
I’m Jen, a JING trained, BTEC level 6 Advanced clinical massage therapist, Doula and mother of two committed to walking this path with you. For the past 4 years I’ve been working with people suffering from long-term pain, chronic illness and fatigue – helping them rediscover ease of movement and a life not hampered by symptoms.
With massage I’m not here to offer you a one-and-done treat or a set routine. Using my toolbox of skills I’ll devise a unique treatment plan which suits your needs – incorporating and encouraging safe pain-free movement to create long-lasting change.
It’s the same as a Doula – there is no one size fits all, especially when it comes to long term health challenges. Instead you’ll talk, I’ll listen and help you uncover what you need to make birth feel joyful, confident and transformational.
Whether you’re looking for:
- Respite from pain, fatigue and heightened nervous system sensitisation
- Support with PGP, sciatica and those other aches and pains of pregnancy
- A postnatal care plan designed for hypermobile bodies
- Dedicated advocacy and a non-judgemental space to explore all your birth choices
I want to see how I can help. So pick your drop down and let’s see what we can do, together…
Congratulations! If you’re feeling like you have no idea what to do next, and you need support with all the decisions or maybe you’ve been struggling with your shifting body; you’re feeling tired, your legs ache and you get shooting pain in your pelvis then jump in to see how I can help you.
So birth has left you feeling like you’ve climbed a mountain and people still won’t let you sleep? It’s a huge and incomprehensible transition in those early weeks – and years! – so let’s see what we can do to get you some space to relax, take stock and maybe grab an hour alone in bed.
Pain can shape your whole story – changing the way you participate in your own life, leading to sleep problems, fatigue, brain fog, joint pain and instability and even unexplainable arrhythmia. So if you’re looking for escape from feeling afraid of movement and dragged down by pain and fatigue then let’s see what we can do to get you jumping out of bed refreshed, and moving in a way that feels safe and nurturing for your body.
If you’ve overdone it with couch-to-5k, restarting to gym or that marathon you signed up for in a late night daze 8 months ago when it seemed a lifetime away…and now your body is making its feelings known, then let’s get you back on track!
Ha I know, lots of options right? I just want to get you to the right place.
And, if there’s nothing else up there in that list which speaks to you – you’re just looking for a really good massage from a skilled practitioner who knows her anatomy, physiology and pathologies, who trained at the best massage school in the UK (and the only one offering degree level massage qualifications) and who will bring a her whole toolbox of skills to the treatment, well – you’re in luck!
If you’re after a one off – it’s a 90 minute appointment and will cost you £85
In that time we’ll do a thorough consultation to inform our treatment plan. You’ll actually have time to explain why you want a massage, how you’re hoping you’ll feel when you leave and what aches, pains, niggles or stresses are contributing to what’s brought you to me. I’ll use that information to design you a unique treatment which helps us both to meet your treatment goals and answers your needs.
After I might recommend some exercises – or maybe a follow up if needed. That’s for you to decide.

“What an amazing massage. I left today feeling rebalanced, refreshed & reinvigorated. I thought I was going for a relaxing massage – which it undoubtedly was – but I didn’t realise how much physiological knowledge Jen would have & how it would be like a massage & physiotherapy session in one. Highly, highly recommended.”

“I have too many good things to say about Jen. I have Elhers-Danlos and meeting another woman like Jen who also has an EDS diagnosis and is working to help people like us has been very moving for me. Dealing with it alone can be really hard and Jen’s kindness and incredible amount of knowledge has brought me a lot of peace. I always leave her massage sessions and text my girlfriend that I think Jen has magical powers lol. I struggle so much to feel relaxed in general, but she really has a gift for making people feel safe and comfortable and alleviating pain”
